Tasting Friuli, its hills and its excellences

At the foot of Mount Bernadia, on the eastern hills of Friuli, stands Ramandolo, a small town in the municipality of Nimis. The symbols of Ramandolo are the geometries of the terraced vineyards and the fifteenth-century church of San Giovanni Battista that emerges in the middle of the green from the hillside. Next to the hill, in 1880 the inhabitants of Ramandolo, almost all winegrowers, built a tavern to promote their wine. Many years have passed since then, but the Osteria di Ramandolo, thanks to constant and loving maintenance, is always there to act as an irreplaceable balcony over Friuli. A tasting of Friuli delicacies awaits you, prepared by skilled hands and accompanied by fine local wines: typical Friulian products accompanied by fine wines. The cellar is obviously rich in proposals of local and indigenous wines, first of all the highly prized Ramandolo docg, but not only. We boast a good selection of Italian and French wines, grappas, rums, brandies, whiskeys, spirits and liqueurs and much more ...

Friuli Venezia Giulia Udine Ramandolo Taste tasting Wine and typical cheeses

Unmissable because A panoramic location surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and woods at the foot of Mount Bernadia. Ideal for Friends, couples, families, gastronauts, small groups The Osteria di Ramandolo is immersed in one of the most beautiful and romantic views of the Eastern Hills of Friuli and the "Vine and Wine Park": sitting under the centenary horse chestnuts, the gaze rests on the woods, on the "vineyards - garden" , on the castles and the plains until you see the Adriatic Sea in the distance kissing the coast ... It is no coincidence that Ippolito Nievo defined this region as a "small compendium of the universe": a patch of land that in a few tens of kilometers encloses the sea, the mountains , the plain and the hill. "Ramandolo" is also the locality in the municipality of Nimis where the restaurant is located, and it is also the name of the vine and of the first regional wine to boast the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin: one of the most important wines of the region, known from the night of the times (long before the arrival of the Romans), "sweet, but not too much" perfect as an accompaniment to cheeses, foie gras or dry pastries. Next to the Osteria there is also the splendid sixteenth-century church of San Giovanni Battista, which can always be visited and inside which you can admire a beautiful wooden altarpiece by Vincenzo di San Vito and splendid frescoes by Gian Paolo Thanner, a Bavarian artist who in those years he painted several churches in Friuli.
